Works on Paper

Everything I make begins on paper. Ideas become marks, and marks are coaxed into images. Through drawing, I find the most immediate and direct way to express myself—it is the primary language I use to articulate my thoughts and shape my intentions.

Over time, drawing has pushed its way out from beneath my paintings and into the foreground, asserting its presence and authority within my practice. Paper has proven itself to be the most receptive and responsive surface—an essential partner in this process.
